The Way of Life - The Church Or Christ? - Jerry Depoy

You're probably thinking, this post is about what Christ said in John 14:6. Your close but,  maybe I will elude to it later because it has much relevance to this post. Religion can be misleading in the life of a person who does not understand what they believe and why then believe it. Attending or having a membership, in a specific denomination of the Christian faith, is no guarantee of eternal life nor is it a reflection of ones relationship with Jesus Christ. Jerry DepoyPastors and elders are merely servants of Jesus Christ and the Gospel, that's what the Apostle Paul identified himself as in Romans 1:1. My question is, if then servants of Jesus Christ why do so many believers hold their church leaders in such high esteem? Believers will often say; "My Pastor teachers us..." or "We at First Baptist Believe". Seldom do you hear Believers state " It is written in Gods word" or "The Bible teaches...". All to often I hear people repeat what their pastor said or what they heard on TV.  Whenever I hear someone state "Gods Word says", this lets me know, whats being said comes from the source book, the Bible.  Although I will check the reference myself (Acts 17:11), since I am a bible reader and I study, I will know if what was said, is truly written in the word and correctly stated.

Context is truly everything, without it you can formulate a whole new religion and doctrine. This brings about new teachers with having claims of "The Way To Live".  Church members will decide who they will honor above another. Some will have more respect and pride in the name of their church and their churches social  activities than having humility and a sense of responsibility in their faith.  Their church name, affiliation or denomination means more to them than their spiritual condition.  I was surprised to hear a church members or a particular denomination  say  "C.O.G.I.C, is the way of life!  Wow, what are we saying?  I though Jesus was The Way and The Truth and The life?  He is you know; in fact you will find in John 14:6, Jesus goes on the say..."no one comes to the Father, but by me." Maybe its just the excitement of members showing church pride. When you feel that your religion or your denomination has exclusivity into heaven or access to God (and no one person or organization does) , now is not the time to boast in it, you have to be busy about Gospel business in pointing people to Jesus Christ.

No church is "The Way", there is no Pastor, Elder, Bishop, Prophet, Missionary of Evangelist that is "The Way".  Jesus Christ is "The Way."   No person or organization can lay claim to having the pathway (way of living or exclusive membership) to eternal life or access to heaven. Jerry DepoyBelievers do not understand what they are saying when they place their organizations, denominations over what God has established.  If Gods word instructs us to put no confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:1-9 1), I'm sure He expects the same when it comes to a  church name. You will not find Baptists, Catholics, Protestants, Church Of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C) in heaven, just redeemed children of God.

Jesus Christ is, The Way, The Truth and The Life.

Note:  Depending on the usage, but in the case of this post, "The" is defined in this manner:  "used to mark a noun as indicating the best-known, most approved, most important, most satisfying, etc."
